Are ‘Men in Blue’ Capable to Defend the Winners Title in 2015 World Cup?

dhoni ODINew Delhi, Wednesday, October 29 – Cricket World Cup is slated to start in February 2015. As the time is nearing for the contest to begin, a big question that is running in the minds of cricket fans is whether India are efficient to defend World Cup title or not. Despite the fact that they are considered a unit with great batting line, a truth has to be taken into consideration that previous World Cup was hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in home-like conditions. Mentioning this has nothing got to do with the immaculate performances by each and every Indian player.

Hadn’t they been able to put forward amazing play in a sync, it wouldn’t have ever been possible for them to lift the most awaited trophy in 2011. Experts reckon that the ‘men in blue’ are strong enough to clinch back-to-back World Cup titles but a lot is to be poured by them for the reason that all the scheduled matches of next year will take place on the foreign pitches. Australia and New Zealand are to jointly host the biggest tournament. Nothing else but terrific game on the field would make Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India to kick off the match with a victory, make into super 8, super 4 and into the grand finale.

As Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra, Ajinkya Rahane, Murali Vijay, Varun Aaron, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ambati Rayudu, Mohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami are likely to fly for the countries where the exciting contest are scheduled to take place, it would be interesting to watch who would make into the ‘playing XI’ and be the first choice of ‘captain cool’. However, expectations are up from Dhoni, who believes in trying out new combination and gives opportunity to the youngsters to prove themselves. The bowlers like Mohit, Shami, Aaron, Jadeja, Mishra, Ashwin and Kumar are able to give breakthroughs at a time when India need to bounce back or gain foothold in the game. Raina, Rohit and Rayudu are also capable of taking wickets and break the partnership. These talented players have the potential to change the entire game with brilliant deliveries.

But a major question arises here is this – are they all proficient to turn the match in favor of India especially when the cricket carnival is planned to take place in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Nelson, Wellington, Dunedin, Hamilton, Auckland, Christchurch and Napier. Net practice can add to the power and confidence to face the strong opponents in the best way possible. In the one and a half month long competition, every Indian eyes the progress of the home squad. Undoubtedly, the skipper himself masters the art of hitting biggies whenever run rate is to be taken up, other experienced cricketers of his group have the strength do to the same. Nonetheless, the only concern for them is their poor record in the overseas. If they dream to bring home World Cup trophy for another time then they would have to leave no stone unturned to rise as a bigger threat for the contenders. Let us wait and watch how far India go in WC contest, which starts from February 14 to March 29 2015.
