Kunshan High-End Food Industry Development Promotion Conference held

Recently, the Kunshan High-End Food Industry Development Promotion Conference was held to deepen industrial chain coordination, promote industry-academia-research collaboration, and advance the high-end food industry toward greater scale, stronger brands, and higher quality. During the event, the Kunshan High-End Food Industry Alliance was established, and attendees shared cakes from Kunshan-based company Holiland to celebrate the achievements of the city’s high-end food industry.

In her address, Chen Liyan, secretary of the CPC Kunshan Municipal Committee, expressed gratitude to the attending officials and guests for their support of Kunshan’s development. She said that in recent years, leveraging its unique geographic advantages, comprehensive industrial system, and first-class business environment, Kunshan has applied the industrial chain coordination capabilities it honed through precision manufacturing to the “soft” food sector, attracting more than 300 leading food companies with a combined output value exceeding 100 billion yuan. She expressed the hope that more outstanding companies and talented professionals would visit and establish themselves in Kunshan, share in the city’s development opportunities, pursue new partnerships, jointly expand the high-end food industry, and realize the vision of “Let the World Fall in Love with the Taste of Kunshan.”

Li Jiancheng, deputy director and member of the Leading Party Members’ Group of the Jiangsu Department of Industry and Information Technology, said in his address that the food industry is both an essential livelihood industry that meets people’s daily needs and a wealth-generating industry that increases incomes in urban and rural areas, while also serving as one of Jiangsu’s traditional competitive industries. He expressed the hope that Kunshan would continue to strengthen its first-mover advantages in sectors such as coffee, expand emerging industries including grain and oil deep processing, new-style beverages, health foods, and pet food, deepen industry-academia-research collaboration and industry-city integration, and establish itself as a provincial benchmark for the high-end food industry.

Zhang Liang, a member of the Standing Committee and director of the Organization Department of the CPC Jiangnan University Committee, speaking as an industry expert, said the university will fully leverage its academic strengths, research capabilities, and talent resources to deepen comprehensive collaboration with Kunshan by jointly establishing innovation platforms, tackling key food processing technologies, and accelerating the industrialization of cutting-edge research achievements in Kunshan, together writing a new chapter in the coordinated development of the high-end food industry across the Yangtze River Delta.

At the event, representatives from companies including Luckin Coffee, Swire Coca-Cola, Holiland, Yoplait, DORABELLA, Tsingtao Brewery, Vipshop, Lamipak, Kinglai Hygienic Materials, TOMRA Group, Spain’s Mondragón Corporation, algebraist COFFEE, Shuyi Shaoxiancao, and Tinglian Xueshe said they would continue working with Kunshan to strengthen upstream and downstream industrial support systems and contribute to the high-quality development of the city’s high-end food industry.

Shunda Group unveiled its KADO freeze-dried coffee products and new matcha products developed through a collaboration between Yizheng Coffee and Kunshan Media. Yihai Kerry Group introduced the development of the Yihai Kerry Fengchu (Kunshan) Food Industrial Park. The Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone presented Bonbon Town to attendees.

During the event, the Kunshan Municipal People’s Government and the China National Food Industry Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement to deepen collaboration in areas including regional brand building and project investment. The Three-Year Action Plan for Developing Kunshan’s High-End Food Industry Cluster (2026-2028) was also released. Kunshan unveiled supporting policies for the high-end food industry, industrial tourism and study tour routes, a group of partner organizations committed to integrating technological and industrial innovation between Shanghai and Kunshan, and supply-demand matchmaking sessions for the high-end food industry. The city also announced the list of the most beloved coffee shops in Kunshan, launched a global recruitment campaign for its Coffee Industry Doubling Plan, and presented letters of appointment to high-end food industry advisors and industrial cultural tourism ambassadors.

According to the action plan, by 2028, Kunshan aims to achieve an industry scale exceeding 50 billion yuan in both food manufacturing and food supply, while expanding its food-related smart equipment industry to more than 30 billion yuan. The city also plans to attract 500 key food enterprises, cultivate more than 50 locally owned food brands, establish 20 smart food innovation platforms, create 100 specialty food experience scenarios, develop 10 premium food industry study tour routes, and nurture more than 10,000 food-sector brand owners, building a modern food industry ecosystem that is innovative, high-end, intelligent, and integrated.
