Will India Continue to Maintain Winning Momentum against Sri Lanka in ODI Matches Next Month?

srilanka1New Delhi, Wednesday, October 22 – After the West Indies team lately pulled out tour of India, the probability to enhance batting, fielding and bowling diminished for the Indian team, which was led by destructive batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Despite the fact that India did not start well in the One-Day International matches as the guest inflicted a humiliating defeat of 124 runs on them in the contest that took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, on October 8. But the way the host performed later on is commendable. To rise post seeing the fall is not as easy as it may seem to others at first. It was dedicated efforts of the entire team that made West Indies go at the back foot and lose the 2nd and 4th ODI by 48 and 59 runs, respectively.

At a stage where slated ODI, only T20 match and Test match series would have given players of both the teams an apt chance to grow and learn from their mistakes, Dwayne Bravo’s squad flew back home, creating a void that will now be filled in by Sri Lanka. It does mean, excitement of cricket fans is not going to be dampened any further and they will get to see a lot more cricket in the near future.

Since Sri Lanka and the ‘men in blue’ will play against each other in the different stadiums of Ranchi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Cuttack, Hyderabad, solid contest is on the cards. The 5-match ODI series is likely to hold a lot of exhilaration as the cricket rivals India and Sri Lanka are considered as the teams which can change the things in the final over or ball. A blend of experienced and inexperienced players in these two squads will give audiences to cheer and shout in sheer enthusiasm.

Dynamic Indian players will be play under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, who is back in form by exhibiting an astounding knock of 127 runs against the Caribbean cricketers in the last match hosted at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni has been given rest for sometime which is supposed to help him to robustly bounce back on the crease. In fact, the pitch gave chance to the entire batting lineup to perform at their best. Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu also showed a little bit of their potential to change the whole equation of the game at any point and contribute significant runs in the team’s total.

Rohit Sharma, who has been out of the ‘playing XI’ for a while due to an injury, is likely to open the matches, which are scheduled to happen early next month. This is the best opportunity for the right-handed batsman to sharpen his tools prior to 2015 Cricket World Cup. His comeback is surely going to give much needed boost to the top batting order of India. However, hundred percent efforts will be required to pour in the upcoming tournament from him and other players given that the biggest strength of Sri Lankan cricketers is their bowling attack. If India continue to bat in the style for what they are famous and a big threat to the contenders then it would be far easier for them to score humongous runs. It is gonna be exciting to see which team makes best use of the opportunity and which fails to do so. For this, fans will have to wait a bit more as India and Sri Lanka gear up for a big show that begins on November 2.
