City Gears Up to Celebrate Navratri and Vijayadashami; Delhi Streets Full of Lights in Festive Season

navratriNew Delhi, Wednesday, October 1 – The festive spirit went up on the onset of 9-day long Navratri – a period when prayers are offered to Hindu deity Maa Durga. And since a number of devotees are observing fast during this auspicious occasion,  sale of various useful products has increased up to a greater extent. Residents of the national capital and other states are thronging at shopping zones and local markets to get the needed items and enjoy Ashtami, Navami and Dashami at the fullest.

Given that Navratri is celebrated with huge devotion through prayers, colors, dandiya dance and satvik food, people make sure they do not leave any stone unturned to avail maximum fun at this point. Several Delhi streets are decorated with countless bulbs and lights, which add to the festival mood. Demand for crackers has gone up and children are excited to make absolute use of holidays as most of the schools will remain close up till October 6.

Big queues are anticipated to be observed outside and inside temple premises. Preparations to control the crowd are in full swing. The festival kicked off in tight security and is probable to end up in the same. Installation of CCTV cameras at different corners of the city has been done to keep any eye on all sorts of activities.
